Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory
-Dr. Seuss
Robert Paul Gossage, known as Bob, but referred to as dad, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and dear friend to many, died on January 24th, 2019 of stage 4 liver cancer at age 62. The months, weeks, and days leading up to Bob’s death were grueling and filled with pain, both physically and mentally. The way in which he handled his last moments on earth were a testament to his undeniable love of life and will to live as he never gave up. Bob never lost his passion for life, his sense of humor, or his love for his family.
His most important roles were husband to Brenda Gossage and Father to my husband, Frank Gossage. Bob met Brenda as a teenager in Canada, where they were both born and raised. Several years later they were married with a baby and had big dreams to travel the world. After living in Toronto, Bermuda, Hong Kong, New Jersey, and Chicago, they finally settled into their “forever” home in sunny Georgia. This was Bob’s happy place and where we all said our goodbyes.
Bob has been a significant part of my life over the last decade and I still can’t fathom his absence from our lives. In an effort to honor his life, I am asking for donations to the American Cancer Society to help fund research in search of a cure for cancer. In lieu of a traditional burial and funeral, with his family and closest friends, we are celebrating his life on Saturday, June 8th the way he wanted to be remembered, with a BIG party of course! In the spirit of this party I would like to try to raise money to help future patients like Bob. I have the next 3 months to reach my $5,000 goal. Will you help me?! No amount is to little.
From the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
With Love,
Bess Gossage
