Of the over 1.3 million children and youth experiencing homelessness in the United States, more than 10,900 homeless children and youth were identified in the state of New Jersey during the 2016-17 school year. The NJ Board of Education has identified 13,236 Homeless student’s during the 2017-2018 School year, an increase of 28% from the previous year. At the present time there are 665 homeless students identified in Cumberland County. On a weekly basis we received notifications of at least 7 Homeless Students that require transportation to school. Safe and reliable Van’s are needed to transport students to and from school.
All homeless and displaced children have the right to survive and thrive even though they may live in a socially and economically disadvantaged environment. Attending school is the key to changing their future to a bright and promising one. Belliard’s is committed to serving and providing safe and much needed transportation to disadvantaged students in the surrounding South Jersey area.
