Bella 's Arrupe Project
My name is Bella Salinas. I am currently an eighth grader at St.Ignatius School. My entire graduating class of 2019 is participating in their individually selected personal Arrupe Project.
The Arrupe Project is named after former Superior General of the Jesuits, Pedro Arrupe. The goal of this project is to empower the students to assist others. My Arrupe Project, I chose the nonprofit organization known as the United Service Organization (USO) to assist in fundraising for their great cause as they also are in service of others.
The USO is a nonprofit organization working with military service members of our nation. The USO is known as the force behind the forces. They help servicemen to be connected with their families and home. They also have locations at airports for service members who had long days of traveling, providing a place for them to eat, rest and feel safe. The USO also donates books and many other heartfelt gifts for our military service members serving away from home. The USO is widely known for entertaining the troops overseas with their USO Show. The reason I had chosen the USO was that my Father, cousins, Grandfather, Great grandfather, and uncles all served in the military. My father had spent more than 30 years in the U.S. Army. My father had mentioned how hospitable their airport centers were to him and others, as well as the shows he attended while deployed. He has since retired however he stills specks highly of the USO.
Thank you for your support to a wonderful organization.
Sincerely,
Bella Salinas
