The PUSO Foundation (@thepusofoundation) and members of the Lebanese-American community based in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area are devastated by the tragic explosion that occured in Beirut, the capital and largest city of Lebanon, on August 4th, 2020. This tragedy has taken the lives of over 220 people, injured over 6,000, and left over 300,000 homeless. There are also over 110 people who remain missing.
Lebanon has endured many hardships within this past year such as its biggest economic collapse in history (leading to hyperinflation and joblessness), the COVID-19 pandemic, corrupt politics, and now this most recent tragedy which has only amplified the struggles faced by its people. Aside from the structural, physical, and psychological damage - the explosion also destroyed the country’s main port which imports 90% of all food and supplies into Lebanon. Lebanon has historically been a place for refugees seeking assylum with over 1.5 million refugees taken in to date. Now, Lebanon needs the world’s help.
We invite our friends and family to donate to this charitable cause, whatever you are able to offer. The entire amount raised will be sent to the Lebanese NGO Lebanon of Tomorrow (@lebanonoftomorrow). These funds will be used to provide the following for those affected:
-Food and water
-Reconstruction of damaged residential buildings
-Miscellaneous supplies (i.e. personal protective equipment)
All donations are 100% tax-deductible and there are 0% platform fees associated with GoFundMe Charity. Most importantly - the money will go directly to where help is needed through the Lebnon of Tomorrow team that is on the grounds in Beruit.
