Beirut Emergency Fund 2020
On August 4, 2020, 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate negligently stored in the Port of Beirut caused a colossal blast that leveled the Port and decimated much of the city’s infrastructure. Over 160 people have been confirmed dead, 6000 wounded, with many more still missing. In addition, over 300,000 people have been abruptly displaced.
The Kuwait-America Foundation (KAF), in partnership with Social And Economic Action For Lebanon (SEAL), is supporting emergency relief efforts for Lebanon in the wake of the massive explosion that devastated Beirut.
The need is urgent and we must act fast to save lives and help the Lebanese cope with this catastrophic humanitarian, economic, and environmental disaster.
