The NSMC Cancer WALK is Sunday, June 23, 2019! For our team, BEIGE MAN GROUP, this is our 20th WALK!! Our little team has raised over $60,000 (of the 23 million) the WALK has generated so far.
We walk in memory of my husband Dave, who inspired us with his courage and humor and inspired our team name. He saw Blue Man Group shortly after his treatment, and looked just like them...only Beige!
We lost Dave in 2002, despite the heroic efforts of the staff at NSMC Cancer Center. Their compassion and care will never be forgotten and it made such a profound difference in Dave's journey.
We also remember the courage of little Kerrianne Luggelle, my brother's grandchild, who lost her battle 8 years ago at the age of 9. Our “Orange Chick” was a staunch promoter of the color orange "because it gets so little attention and respect!" We later learned that orange represents "Hope". It is because of HOPE that we continue to WALK.
My partner Steve was diagnosed in 2016 with a return of his cancer. He continues to respond well to treatment received at the NSMC Cancer Center and understands first-hand why we are so passionate in our continued support! We WALK for Steve and for so many others who are, and who will be, fighting this disease at the Cancer Center in Danvers.
ALL proceeds from the 2019 WALK remain LOCAL and will be used to provide support to Oncology services on the North Shore Medical Center’s Salem campus as well as for clinical trials, wellness care and other Oncology services at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers.
Thank you for your support!!
