Help our organization continue to support our honey bees during this time of need.
Spring is the busiest time of the year for Bees in the D® as we reopen our 160+ honey bee hives and place thousands of new bees into their new homes across Detroit and southeast MI. Like so many others, we too have felt the affects of the COVID-19 crisis. We have had to cancel numerous public speaking events and educational workshops, and even postpone our annual fundraising event until hopefully later this year. This crisis has also delayed our plans on establishing our plan for building our Education Center that will be dedicated to the importance of pollinators - a first of its kind! Additionally, organizations and companies that have generously donated to us in the past, are also feeling the affects of the crisis and are no longer able to commit funds to us.
Still, despite what is happening currently around the world, Bees in the D® remains committed to our mission of educating on the importance of honey bee colonies and other pollinators in our environment. Within a few days of schools being closed, we created and added fun educational programs to our Bees in the D® Jr. page on our website that parents and children can access for free. We are also providing live streams on our Facebook as we check-in on our active hives.
Every day of the year, but especially now, our organization works to support the communities we serve. Our organization is committed to ensuring that we are able to maintain financial stability, so that we may be able to continue helping the conservation of honey bee populations and other native pollinators, but we need your help.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please help us at any level – we know many are suffering economically and any amount is meaningful! If you are able to, please consider supporting Bees in the D® in any amount that you can. Your gift will help provide immediate financial support to recoup lost fundraising efforts we normally would be able to receive during this time.
- $50 provides one Varroa mite treatment for 10 hives
- $100 provides gas money for our 4 beekeepers traveling to care for all of our hives
- $150 provides a package of 3,000 new bees to introduce to a new hive
- $400 sponsors an already active hive for a season
- $1000 sponsors a brand new hive for a season
Whether or not you are able to donate at this time, it would mean the world to us if you SHARE THIS CAMPAIGN FAR AND WIDE to all of your friends and families!
Thank you and remember to continue to BEE Strong, BEE Safe, & BEE Positive. We will all make it through this together.
