While we're playing under a different team name than years past, a majority of us have been playing in the Puck Cancer tournament annually for years while some are new to the group! Below we've provided the official Puck Cancer story, and we fully support this cause by playing in this tournament! Please consider donating to our team and help us fight for those who continue to or who no longer can. If you choose to comment who you are fighting for, we will include them on our team banner and will play in honor of them!
Puck Cancer was co-founded by sisters Sue Padulo and Sandy Cross in 2006. At 26 Sue was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Her love of hockey and desire to skate drove her to a healthy cancer-free life.To celebrate Sue’s survivorship Puck Cancer was co-founded with the intent to assist others whose lives have been changed by cancer. They took their vision to the one place where they could count on enthusiastic participation, the ice! Hockey players, fans and enthusiasts alike share a unique passion which they have been able to direct towards making a difference in the fight against this grueling disease.
Puck Cancer donates all proceeds to families or individuals battling cancer. It doesn't matter what type of cancer you have or how old you are, we want to help. Helping with the financial aspect can give you a little relief from the stress so that you are able to focus on what's important - getting healthy.
