I will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon for Bears Care, a charity and organization that has meant a lot to my family and I over the years. This will be the second year in a row that I will be running for Bears Care. The Chicago Bears established Bears Care in 1995, an organization whose main focus is to raise money for medical research and health awareness programs focusing on breast and ovarian cancer. My mom joined Bears Care in 1997, which at the time was solely focused on breast cancer. She did so to honor her Mom who passed away from breast cancer in 1995. In 1999, after supporting breast cancer and Bears Care for several years, my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As a result of her diagnosis, Bears Care decided to support and raise awareness for both breast and ovarian cancer. She battled for several years and throughout her entire battle she took pride in the work that she and every member of Bears Care were doing daily. She unfortunately lost her battle to ovarian cancer in May of 2008. Bears Care has continued to carry on her legacy by making her, Nini Lyman, an honorary member of the committee. I am will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon to support Bears Care in the work they are doing and to thank them for continuing to carry on my mom's legacy. I thank everyone in advance for your support!!
