I spend every Monday afternoon with these focused, dedicated young people!
FlipNYC will combine our experience from Beam Camp and the energy of New York City! Community art needs community support. Please share and donate if you can. Stay tuned for project updates!
We know that young people are capable of spectacular things.
We’ve been proving it for 15 years in the forest of New Hampshire at Beam Camp, where kids from 10 to 17 build miraculous projects designed by world-class architects, artists and engineers.
Now we’re bringing these incredible projects to the neighborhoods of New York City starting this spring with DUMBO.
Right now at the Beam Center workshop in Red Hook, the NYC Beam Fellows, students ages 15-18, are hard at work building FlipNYC: two of the world’s largest mechanical, solar-powered Flipbooks.
The NYC Beam Fellows will work with local elementary and middle school students to trace and color the 200 Flipbook images needed to bring the animation to life. FlipNYC will be on view for the public to interact and play with throughout Summer 2019.
Your donations will support this free program by contributing to design and engineering fees, community workshops, materials, and staffing.
We need your help to reach their June 5 install deadline.
