I think it’s safe to say, that in these new and tender times we have found ourselves in with the COVID-19 pandemic, all of us have been affected by this virus in a variety of ways. Some of these affects have touched all our lives, bringing a sense of community, empathy and understanding amongst all of us here in the United States. Other affects have been unique to each of us. While we are all in this together, some of our friends, family, neighbors and fellow human beings have had to deal with situations far beyond what anyone should ever have to endure. There are people living without basic necessities.
My name is Jody Young, and I am an award winning bead artist and run an online bead business (Beyond Beads Gallery). When I started learning about what a dark and desperate time this has become for so many, I knew I needed to do my part. It has become clear to me that there are too many Americans who are unable to put food on their tables. The food banks are unable to keep up with the new demand. After doing some research, I decided that Feeding America, was the charity I was looking for.
Feeding America Mission Statement: “Our mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.”
I am beyond grateful to everyone who has offered their time and/or money to help me in my mission. This time in our country has made it perfectly clear that we never know what tomorrow might bring, so the best way to live is united, empathetic and with purpose.
