This is personal. We have been impacted by the loss of friends, neighbors, and loved ones and we are joining our friends in Alaska in working toward a solution to this public health crisis. "Preventing suicide is every Alaskan’s responsibility. Like any other public health problem, suicide can be prevented through increased awareness, education, and targeted interventions to reduce and address risk. In order for these efforts to be successful, Alaskan individuals, families, communities, and governments must take ownership of the problem — and the solution." -
After the Boston Marathon, our team will participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk in Fairbanks, Alaska. We have joined the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
