Our Vision: 2020

Nearly 200 years ago in upstate New York, a young boy named Joseph Smith sought a quiet space to pray and find answers to his questions. For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this was a seminal moment. An ordinary farm boy ushered in the Restoration of the Gospel—an event we now refer to as “the First Vision.”

But this wasn’t the last vision. The Prophet Joseph’s experience shows us that we are all entitled to divine guidance. Vision is our spiritual and cultural legacy. It’s in our DNA.

Since 1820, Latter-day Saints from all over the globe have built on the inspired ground by which the Church was restored. Artists, creatives and thinkers worldwide are leading out in this visionary effort. They're creating exceptional art, music, literature, film, design, dance and scholarship.

The problem? These artists—and their works—are largely undiscovered.

The Center for Latter-day Saint Arts is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization in New York City dedicated to finding the voices of our faith and culture and letting them speak. And we need all voices. Whether you’re in Utah or Uganda, Calgary or Colombia, Warsaw or Winnetka; if you identify with the LDS faith or culture in any way, we need you!

In a few short weeks, we’ll ring in 2020. A new decade, a year unlike any other. Before the new year begins, the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts needs your help.

Thanks to you, we reached our goal of raising at least $20,200 before Jan. 1, 2020! Now, the stakes are even higher. The Center will present its first-ever satellite festival in Dallas, Texas in February; its annual conference in New York City in June; and our biggest news yet will be announced very soon! We're delighted for our greatest adventure yet.

What impact will your generosity have?

When you donate, you’re shaping cultural vision. You’re sharing the more complete story of saints all over the world. You’re shining a light on artists and thinkers who would otherwise remain undiscovered.  You're finding long-silenced voices from the dust and giving them their a rightful history and home. You’re gathering our friends and neighbors through the arts. And you’re helping to fund festivals, exhibits, podcasts, curricula, artist advocacy programs, award-winning publications, an encyclopedic archive, book clubs, and even the Come Follow Me (Art Companion) for individuals and families. You’re sharing in the vision that began 200 years ago.

It's easy to give. You can donate online, text BEVISIONARY to 41411 or even venmo @centerforldsarts.

2020 is the year of perfect sight. Just one question remains:
