"Breast Cancer Alliance is enabling progress at a faster pace than would otherwise be possible", Dr. Nikhil Wagle, Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In the face of this pandemic, we need your help to continue to make that impact.
Why? BCA’s mission includes eliminating obstacles to essential breast health care for underserved and uninsured women. This work is more critical than ever as breast cancer diagnoses continue to rise as do the number of those in need due to COVID-19.
· Screening mammographies are not currently being offered.
· Neoadjuvant (pre-surgical therapies) are being prescribed in place of surgery until hospitals are better, more safely prepared to handle non-COVID patients.
· Immunocompromised patients undergoing chemotheraphy have an added layer of fear when they go for their sessions.
· One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and one in 833 men. 30% of all breast cancer patients are living with metastatic disease for which there is no cure.
