Over four years ago, our dad, Carlos "BB" Mariñelarena, passed away from stomach cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in March 2013 and fought for 11 months. For us, his death did not mean that he "lost his battle" to cancer, but rather that he chose to move on to his next journey to find peace. We miss every day the man who taught us how to love, how to respect and accept others, and of course, how to listen to amazing music like The Beatles and Oldies. We find comfort in knowing that he is free of pain, that he is in the heavenly presence of our brother Danny, our grandparents and other loved ones, and that he lives in the hearts of each and every one of us always.
Stomach cancer is, unfortunately, often diagnosed in the more advanced stages which greatly affects prognosis. This November for Stomach Cancer Awareness Month, we invite you to help us raise awareness and support not only research, but the many people and families who are affected by stomach cancer. We also encourage you to visit the No Stomach For Cancer website where you can "shop for the cause" and purchase a t-shirt or wristband to help us "paint the world periwinkle" this November!
Thank you all so much for your love and support!
