COVID-19 has had a negative impact on graduating high school students as they prepare to enter higher education. Many of our local students and their families are facing a financial crisis and unprecedented challenges amidst the COVID-19 shutdowns and lack of resources. Our team at BBDC believes that during this time, students should not feel as if their future in higher education will be impaired. We remain dedicated to continuing our program to grant scholarship awards to DC students in need of financial alleviation to reach their educational goals.
Since 2011, BBDC has provided over $300,000 (USD) in first-year scholarship awards to over 100 financially challenged, college-bound DCPS high school seniors, through our initiative, The Richard Tucker Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year will be no exception however in order to continue our efforts, we need the support of our community, friends, and peers to help us reach fundraising goals. One hundred percent of contributions raised will go directly to the students as scholarship awards for their accepted college/university. Every donation counts in making a difference and helping a student in need.
