In 2021, the Berkeley Bike Club is unveiling our virtual charity ride... The BBC Ride for Good, will continue our commitment to our community by providing healthy, fun, inclusive, and sometimes competitive events to the Bay Area, and to continue our ongoing efforts to raise money for good causes!
On the weekend of April 3-4, ride safely, as many miles as you can, on any route you choose, on road, trail, or virtually, sign up and donate $1 per mile to help give back to the community. The Berkeley Bike Club will match the first $1,000 raised. All funds to be given locally to Bay Area food banks.
+ On April 3rd and 4th ride as many miles as you can, anywhere in the world, in real life or virtually.
+ Click Donate or Register, select one event ticket for $0, and then select your desired amount to pledge or donate.
+ Donate to the cause. We suggest $1 per mile ridden, but you can do what is right for you.
+ You may donate ahead of time as a pledge to ride your chosen distance, or reg and then donate after you've done your ride and counted up your miles. You may also ask friends and family to pledge to match your donation!
+ Put a link on your Strava ride to this GoFundMe inviting your friends and followers to pitch in, and share your big effort on your social media pages (#BBCRideForGood). Together we can make a big difference!
+ Anyone can donate, whether or not you ride.
+ You are responsible for your own route and safety, so be sure to pick a safe route that you trust, follow the rules of the road, bring some food and hydration, and take care of yourself just like you do on all of your rides.
+ Be aware of any local health ordinances and always follow local laws and regulations.
The COVID pandemic has been a challenge for us all, and continues to be. Now more than ever, many of our friends and neighbors need help with basic needs. As we look forward to the future with some optimism that we will get past the pandemic, we want to do what we can to make sure everyone has their basic needs met.
+ Register and sign our waiver. Anyone can donate. We would love to have as many event participants as possible doing their own rides as a part of the event (i.e. registered participants).
+ Ride safely. Follow the rules of the road. Follow your local public health guidelines and regulations.
+ Put a link on your ride on Strava to this GoFundMe inviting your friends and followers to pitch in, and share your big effort on your social media pages. Together we can make a big difference.
+ All official event rides must be documented on Strava or Ride with GPS. Your route is up to you. Pick one you like, follow the rules of the road, and ride safe! You are responsible for your own route and your own safety. All donations accepted, and undocumented rides are great, but are not considered officially part of the virtual event with respect to our waiver, etc.
This is a joint effort with BBC and Kai Velo Foundation. Donations are tax duductible. Kai Velo is a 501c3 foundation.
Donations will be evenly split (50/50) between the two food banks, and directed there immediately after all transactions have been processed by GFM after the conclusion of the event.
