Movement Friends, our daily routine is due for a boost!
Hi, we're the Block Build Be Blossom team! We come from different backgrounds, but some important things unite us. We embrace the paradox of loving the world as it is, while fighting like heck to change it. We care about helping the planet, and are determined to learn how to actually help, not just fake recycle. And we know from our own experience that a daily practice helps us level up — meeting our goals with more ease, clarity, and happiness.
(Oh, and we rock the Buddhist Peace Fellowship BBB t-shirts. Get your own T-shirt as a perk — black or white, sizes XS - 5XL — when you donate $30 or more until August 31!)
BBB-Blossoming into a 30-Day Challenge
Together, for 30 days leading up to the Fall Equinox, each of us is committing to our own daily challenge practice, supporting us to re-harmonize 3 vital energies for change: Block, Build, and Be.
We Block harm and oppression.
We Build creative solutions.
We Be in alignment with our highest truths.
In these dire times of climate chaos, fascist threats, and widening wealth divides, many of us who care about making the world better are consciously choosing to deepen in political theory and action (blocking and building), while also re-rooting in spiritual practice (being). Unless we harmonize these multiple modes, our movement work tends to feel frantic, exhausted, reactive, prone to wish-cycling, and quicker to bitterness or burnout. How can we help each other level up?
Both capitalism and organized religion tend to want to promote a Single Solution that supposedly works for everyone. But at Buddhist Peace Fellowship (BPF), we believe that there are all kinds of bodyminds, and all kinds of paths, lineages, and practices that support us. That's why each of us chooses a 30-day challenge that's right for US.
Maybe it's reviving our daily chanting, meditation, prayer, or gratitude list.
Maybe it's 30 days of making art or meals — for the movement, or for ourselves.
Maybe it's 30 days abstaining from fossil fuels or alcohol.
Maybe it's one action per day toward stopping mass incarceration, or reviving an aquifer.
The point is: we each choose our challenge, and commit — with support from friends! If you've ever undertaken a 30-day commitment, you probably know how powerful it can be.
Where Does the Money Go?
The fundraiser connected with this fun and sweet Challenge helps ensure that Buddhist Peace Fellowship's popular programs remain affordable and accessible to all.
Thousands of people from across the world take BPF's online courses or read our free articles, and hundreds apply to attend our annual Block Build Be gathering. BPF serves and shapes social movements by reminding us that we don't have to choose between being spiritual or political — we can be our full selves!
Buddhist Peace Fellowship is proud to serve a highly diverse community committed to radical change: change that happens at the roots of racial, gender, and economic oppression and transformation. On average, at our annual Block Build Be gatherings,
85% of folks identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian, or People of Color
80% identify as queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or pansexual
25% identify as trans, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, or two-spirit
24% identify as chronically ill or disabled.
Together we grow collective wisdom, and generous giving toward wealth redistribution is a foundational part of our economic ethos.
THANK YOU for helping us continue to offer this work!
With metta and solidarity,
BBB Blossom Team
