Riley has been a member of our field hockey community for 6 years and a member of the BBA Field Hockey program for 4 years. We are thrilled to support her in the important work of raising awareness about benign brain tumors and funds for research. We would love to see a day when the research has advanced to the point that Riley no longer has to wonder if her tumor will return and she will need another surgery. Please do what you can to help out!
In 2015, Riley Callen, 18 year old Burr and Burton Academy 12th grader, started Be Brave for Life after her third brain surgery to remove a tumor in her brainstem. Be Brave for Life’s mission is to inform, support, and improve the lives of individuals affected by brain tumors and cerebrovascular disease. Be Brave for Life believes that the only way to find better treatment options, and ultimately a cure, is by supporting innovative research, improving collaboration, and creating a community around bravery and hope. In 5 years, the foundation has raised three quarters of a million dollars and supported innovative research initiatives at top hospitals and universities around the world.
