I am proud to announce that I will be participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon on behalf of Bay Cove Human Services. Bay Cove is a Boston-based non-profit organization who partners with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential.
Bay Cove has a simple vision. To provide full, rich lives for people facing the greatest challenges. Bay Cove commits to carrying out this mission by providing services to more than 25,000 individuals and families who face the challenges of developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorder, homelessness and/or aging, at more than 170 program sites in Metro Boston and southeastern Massachusetts.
One program of particular interest to me is the FirstStep Street Outreach program, which offers life-saving alternatives to unsheltered homeless men and women who are affected by substance abuse, mental illness and medical complications associated with life on the streets. FirstStep’s staff engage homeless people within the community, and work to build trusting relationships, with the main goal of promoting human dignity, and connecting people with the services they need. By saving a life today, FirstStep makes it possible for recovery tomorrow. In today’s busy life, vulnerable people often are forgotten about. I believe that people facing these challenges deserve to live a full, rich life and FirstStep makes that possible by committing to treating each person it serves with dignity and respect. Saving a life today makes recovery possible for tomorrow.
Along with making it across the finish line, a key part of this race is fundraising. This year, Team Bay Cove has a goal to raise over $100,000. To achieve this goal, we will need your help! Each donation, regardless of the amount, will help transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
