Schools are shut, yet these children don't have access to books or the internet...
What better way to inspire a joy of reading, especially during these challenging times when schools are shut and educational opportunities are limited at best, than with the newest Luh Ayu Manik Mas adventure. Many do not have access to the internet, and printed books, especially in the Balinese language, are scarce in many communities.
Luh Ayu is Bali's only community-created superhero. Luh Ayu engages the public in dialogue about environmental and social issues and then local writers and artists turn these conversations into comic books. The books are written in Balinese, translated into Indonesian and English. In this her fourth adventure, Luh Ayu battles ocean waste and teaches us what we can do about it.
We will quickly get the books to children in need through on the ground community networks throughout Bali via Ikan Kecil (who has been distributing Luh Ayu books to impoverished communities along with soap and rice), Bali Children’s Project and Books for Bali.
Many thanks for keeping minds engaged while we also protect our bodies from this deadly virus and for supporting Balinese writers, illustrators, and editors.
Blessings for good health.
