In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Vladik is 12 years old and lives with his parents in Ukraine. During a complicated birth he was deprived of oxygen, resulting in damage to his brain. He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. For 12 years his parents have managed to provide for his needs without assistance. But in recent months he has had pneumonia three times. The doctors told his parents it was necessary to place a tracheostomy tube to open up his airways and support his breathing. "A new test fell on our family, but I'm sure that with God's help we can do it! For twelve years, all our finances went to maintain stable health of our beloved boy. But now came such the moment when Vladik’s life directly depends on the availability of money."
Vladik needs an oxygen concentrator so that he can have access to oxygen at home. He also needs a bath chair for bathing as he can no longer lay in the bath due to his trach. US$1000 will cover the cost of these two items plus trach supplies and medicine for Vladik for 3 months.
His parents love their boy very much. It was hard for them to ask for help, but they did it for him. Can you help us reach our goal?
