Did you know? Recent research demonstrates the significant role the arts play in building critical social and emotional skills. These critical skills include a child’s ability to control their feelings or behaviors, get along with others, build relationships, and recognize and understand emotions in themselves and others.
As a team of organizations, artists and educators we developed the concept of the Baltimore Arts Passport, a booklet of readings, visuals and prompts exploring the arts in Baltimore City. On each page, students ‘travel’ to arts organizations, experience a glimpse of each institution, reflect on and creatively respond through writing, drawing, making, dancing or acting. Booklets and art supplies will be distributed at meal and community sites throughout the city this summer.
22 organizations and artists have joined together on this ambitious project, with the goal of reaching 10,000 students in Summer 2020. But we need YOUR help! A gift of only $10 will provide a student in Baltimore City with an art supply kit for home creation and a Passport to a world of artistic discovery.
