One in ten girls in the Dominican Republic will be a teenage mother. That is 3X the rate of teenage mothers in the United States.
There is no denying that the Dominican Republic is an underdeveloped nation with poor educational resources. Because of the limited opportunities within the country, the women there are often pressured into marrying young in order to receive financial support. These women will often have children shortly after they marry, which results in a financially insecure household. This never-ending cycle creates more and more generations that are trapped in financially insecure families. The Mariposa Dominican Republic Foundation strives to solve this recurring issue. Their mission is to end generational poverty by educating local females aged eight to eighteen.
Your support will fund vital learning programs throughout the academic year and over the summer, providing an unparalleled education to these girls that will change the future of the Dominican Republic for the better.
