Adriana is only 8 weeks old and will never live to see her 1st birthday without the lifesaving surgery she needs.
She came into our rescue on April 20th from a Municipal Shelter that was seeking rescue for her. We knew she was having some trouble keeping food down but the cause of her issues were unknown. Immediately upon her arrival here we could see the toll it had taken on her health. She is very skinny and has been unable to keep any food down. She was regurgitating everything she ate or drank, and yet was so hungry she was frantic to try to eat.
We rushed her to the vet the following morning where her diagnosis of Megaesophagus was confirmed by Xray. Adriana has a rare congenital condition known as Vascular Ring Anomaly. The blood vessels around her esophagus have formed a constrictive ring in front of her heart that is slowly killing her.
Her vet has estimated that Adriana may live another 6 months at most in her current condition. She is at high risk of Aspiration Pneumonia, even with the specialized Bailey Chair she is currently using to eat. Adriana desperately needs surgery to repair her congenital defect before it's too late. Time is ticking down fast for this sweet puppy that is so full of life and happiness.
Upstate Veterinary Specialists in WNC is able to perform the specialized surgery and believes she would have an excellent prognosis once the surgery is complete because she is still so young.
The cost estimate for her surgery is $4,000. We need help!!
Please consider making a donation to Adriana's surgery so we can get this done for her before it's too late. Without the help and generosity from the community we will not be able to save this sweet girl, and she is so deserving of a long, pain free, healthy life.
We thank you for your support for Adriana and will post updates as often as possible. Please share this Fundraiser far and wide so we can make this happen for her!
