Imagine navigating a difficult personal medical crisis during a world health crisis.
The parents supported by Be Not Afraid (BNA) are doing just that during the COVID-19 pandemic. Told prenatally that their babies have a medical disability or genetic syndrome, they are on a journey through the maze of prenatal testing and medical consults. To parents like those pictured, BNA provides free case management support and advocacy focused on birth and newborn care planning. In a recent survey, 95% of the parents served by BNA indicated that BNA offered them support not otherwise available to them.
In addition to changing how parents are prepared for births, NICU stays and even losses, the COVID-19 pandemic is presenting additional challenges for BNA. A spring fundraiser was not possible, and it is anticipated that donations for the rest of the year will be impacted by the economic consequences of Covid-19. This may be unrecoverable for BNA because 98% of the organization's annual funding comes from fundraisers, donations from individuals, and donations made by churches and other religious organizations who are also being negatively impacted by COVID-19.
Support BNA with your contribution to this campaign. With your help, BNA will continue to support parents facing the uncertainty of a prenatal diagnosis because babies won't wait.
