Want to join me in making a difference? In April 2020, I'm running the 124th Boston Marathon and raising money to benefit the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.). I've qualified twice for this race but it’s been a lifelong goal to actually run it!
Established in 1887, the B.A.A. is a non-profit organization with a mission of promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports, especially running. In addition to organizing the Boston Marathon (the world's oldest annual 26.2 mile race), the B.A.A. arranges health programs and community events throughout the Boston Public Schools and the eight municipalities along the Boston Marathon course.
The B.A.A.'s impact extends far beyond the Boston area, however, through the Boston Marathon's Official Charity Program. This Program provides invitational entries to the Boston Marathon to select non-profit organizations. Organizations use these entries to recruit athletes who pledge to raise funds for their cause. In 2019, these non-profits raised over $39 million through the B.A.A.! This year, the Official Charity Program includes the:
* American Red Cross
* American Liver Foundation
* Boston Children's Hospital
* Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Team In Training
* Impact Melanoma
* National Multiple Sclerosis Society
* Back on My Feet
* Girls on the Run
* and 35 others: https://www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/charity-program
Thank you in advance for your support of this storied organization and race. Any amount is greatly appreciated!
