In 2018, during possibly the most difficult conditions in the last 25 years, I ran the Boston Marathon. My family came to support me along the way. I was on the bus heading to the start line when I got a text with a picture of them ALL in their "Zibah Power" shirts AND RAIN GEAR. My oldest son, Jim, had traveled in the middle of the night to arrive in time to join the others and to surprise me with his presence. That was the last time I saw him. Two days later he died. He had struggled for more than 25 years with an addiction to opioids that began as a pain management protocol. Since that weekend our family has sought to find ways to help others in similar situations. We found The Herren Project. We gave a Christmas donation, I did a birthday fundraiser, and then my daughter, Rebekah, ran a self supported 39 (+) mile Trail Run to honor Jim's 39 years and raise funds for this project. We are at it again as we head toward 2020. Rebekah will be running the Marathon with a Herren Project Bib and I will run the 5K. Consider giving as TOGETHER WE RECOVER.
