Transracial Journeys is a social and educational organization that works to help families formed by transracial adoption. We work to support and train families in core issues related to adoption and to build healthy and resilient, transracial families. I've been volunteering with this organization for 5 years because I wish I had the help, community and support of its families and counselors when I was a young, adoptive mother. It's not an easy journey for any member of the adoption triad (birth parent, adoptee, adoptive family). On any given day, the number of children in foster care in the United States is over 438,000! (source:childrensrights.org). Some of us foster and some of us adopt. Some of us are reunited too. If you're the kind of person who has thought about adopting, you could help manifest that thought by helping those who are touched by adoption. If you can, please help me to continue to help the families involved with Transracial Journeys.
