This summer, Dave is working for Avodah Farms, a non-profit ministry (501c3) dedicated to the rehabilitation and healing of women who have been victims of sex trafficking. This restoration will be primarily provided through safe housing, trauma counseling, and the ministerial work of on-site religious sisters.
As our name indicates, an additional component of our ministry is cultivating the land. In our own lives, we have recognized farming as a life-giving means of work, and so we've created a space to share that practice with others. Our grounds are already home to beehives, chickens, an orchard, and many more crops! The fruits of these agricultural endeavors will go towards nourishing the women living in our maternity and the wider Avodah community. Dave will help oversee the daily operations of this side of our ministry.
The first Avodah Farms location is in its beginning stages: the two maternity homes on our property are currently being built, the land is being groomed for more seeding, and the staff is being mentored. We expect to be in full operation next year, but we need your support today! With your help, we hope to expand this mission to multiple locations across the country. Thank you for anything you feel called to contribute to our mission!
What does "avodah" mean?
• "Avodah" is a Hebrew word that appears throughout the Old Testament. It means work, worship, and service.
What is the need for this type of ministry?
• Last year, over 22,000 cases of trafficking were reported in U.S. alone.
• As of right now, there are only 1,900 beds available and reserved for women who have been trafficked.
Can my contribution be recognized as a charitable gift?
• Since Avodah Farms is a registered 501c3, your contribution can be reported as a charitable gift. Upon donating online, you will be emailed a receipt with the relevant tax-related information. If you donate via check, you will be mailed your receipt.
