SAVE OUR FAIRGROUNDS
What does it mean to ‘Save the Fairgrounds’? It means having the ability to host a fair in September 2021, bringing back the Gold Country Pro Rodeo, Fast Friday’s, Fourth of July, Crab feeds, Community BBQ’s, Ag Days, and so much more. The Gold Country Fair Heritage Foundation supports the Fairground through fundraising events and volunteerism. This campaign is to appeal to you, our community of Fairground users near and far for the support needed to get us through this pandemic as we set our sights on the Gold Country Fair and Pro Rodeo scheduled for September 2021.
Like so many businesses, the Gold Country Fairgrounds & Event Center has been effectively closed to events and indoor gatherings since March 2020. Subsequently, the Fairgrounds have entered various phases of re-opening, but large gatherings have yet to reopen. We want to be here for you when we can gather in large groups again, which is why we are asking for a generous donation of any amount, from you today.
In 2007, the state funding allocation to local fairs was drastically cut and the Fairground was forced to create a new business model that relied exclusively on revenues from events like the annual fair and interim rentals. Good planning before the pandemic along with a lot of creativity and imagination have gotten us nearly through this epic time in our history, but now we need your help to ensure we survive. Here’s why--currently, over 50% of all fairgrounds in the State of California are running in the red. The revised California budget has only allocated funding to close fairgrounds not to save them. With a passionate community, strong fair board, and a well-managed facility we will survive COVID-19, but your support is needed today.
