Autism Pensacola exsists because the prevalence of autism is on the rise, occurring in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. According to estimates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, approximately 1 in 68 children has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Children and young adults with ASD have unique needs and challenges requiring intensive intervention to help them reach their full potential. As families pursue treatment options, many are stretched to their financial limits due to higher-than-normal medical costs for outpatient care, home care, and prescriptions; as well as non-medical expenses, including specialized education; occupational, speech, and behavioral therapies; and alternative treatments. It is not uncommon to find families spending up to $1,000 out of pocket each month on autism-related interventions. Autism Pensacola has the passion, training, and community connections to make that a reality in Northwest Florida.this is why we need your help in order to better assist the families in our community.
