Autism Pensacola exists because the prevalence of autism is on the rise, occurring in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. According to estimates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, approximately 1 in 59 children has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Children and young adults with ASD have unique needs and challenges requiring intensive intervention to help them reach their full potential. As families pursue treatment options, many are stretched to their financial limits due to higher-than-normal medical costs for outpatient care, home care, and prescriptions; as well as non-medical expenses, including specialized education; occupational, speech, and behavioral therapies; and alternative treatments. It is not uncommon to find families spending up to $1,000 out of pocket each month on autism-related interventions.
When you donate to Autism Pensacola, you are supporting our programs including Autism Works for the Community, caregiver support groups, Kids for Camp, Project Lifesaver, and safety trainings for first responders. Our Autism Friendly NWFL Initiative focuses on encouraging and training local businesses in the area of autism awareness, acceptance, and appreciation. The vision is to see Northwest Florida increase its welcome to individuals with Autism. Here, these individuals can become valued, participating members of this great community. Autism Pensacola has the passion, training, and community connections to make that a reality in Northwest Florida. This is why we need your help to make a difference.
