This is Logan. He will celebrate his fourteenth birthday soon. Logan is diagnosed as mid-functioning autistic and with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
Logan goes to public school, and loves music. Logan always has a keyboard or a child's musical interactive toy with him. But you mustn't sing...Logan's ears simply cannot deal with the vibration of people singing around him. Singing causes him pain and he will cry tearfully, so we don't do that, unless of course we need him to respect a request he's stubbornly refusing to cooperate with. All it takes is to suggest a song and he's in action.
Logan was born legally blind, due to optic nerve hypoplasia, an under-development of the nerves of the eye. Logan's ability to see is quite limited. He compensates as best he can. It seems to be enough to navigate where he is going. In relation to his vision impairment, Logan suffers from non-24-hour sleep–wake disorder, a chronic circadian rhythm sleep disorder that keeps the body's sleeping patterns confused due to his eyes not being able to take in the normal amount of light that you and I take in on a daily basis. As you can imagine, this disorder also keeps the rest of the family's sleeping patterns constantly confused as Logan is quite active during the night.
Logan is Clear Choices Healing Center's first actual case. We want to follow Logan with care for a minimum of a year, with nutritional and alternative healing and medical care as prescribed through a medical treatment plan through a chiropractor that specializes in treatment of autistic children. Logan's mother needs financial help with any alternative health options for Logan.
CCHC is seeking funding for a variety of avenues for Logan. CCHC has contacted multiple healing practitioners in Logan’s local area, Atlanta GA. CCHC is determined to find practitioners that have experience helping children like Logan from Functional Medicine to Chiropractic doctors for both diagnosis and for possible treatment plans.
Dr. Drew Rubin of Rubin Family Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia is eager to see Logan. Dr. Rubin was referred to us because he specializes in children with autism and other health challenges, and helps children through alternative treatments such as CranioSacral Therapy. CranioSacral Therapy has been known to cause distinct improvement for children with autism.
Upon approval by CCHC's Board of Directors, CCHC will cover $150 for Logan's first exam by Dr. Rubin. After the initial exam, Logan will be seen twice per week at a cost of $195 per month. This will be our first step for Logan. Once Logan’s initial exam is completed, CCHC will also schedule an exam with a functional medicine doctor as well.
Because autistic children have sensory issues with foods, Logan has been very picky in eating. This has limited Logan’s ability to receive and absorb nutrients due to his sugar and processed food intake. A quality multivitamin/protein supplementation would help Logan immensely. Logan is willing to take pills and drink something tasty that's good for him. Our plan is get Logan on a monthly protein shake which will improve his nutrition.
The product line chosen is Shaklee, due to the many years of science and research the products are based upon. Our total for the year would be $5,280, just for the supplements and for his visits with Dr. Rubin. CCHC is asking for a total of $6,000 so we can alsol have Logan see a Functional Medicine doctor in order to have another opinion. Once the goal of $6,000 is reached, and Logan has been started on his treatment plan which has been outlined here, we'll move to that next step and re-evaluate funds received and modify our Crowdrise program if it needs to be adjusted.
