Continuing a 10+ year Athleta Tradition, we will be running the Golden Gate relay to raise money for Organs R Us. On May 5th and May 6th, we will be running (and volunteering) 191 miles through 36 cities and across the Golden Gate Bridge with Team Athleta promoting organ donation. During the Golden Gate Relay, known as California's Longest Party, passing the baton to the next team member will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. The Golden Gate Relay is dedicated to Katie Grace Groebner (born 7/16/02) who received a new heart and lungs on 6/14/14, Nick Shelton who donated a kidney to his brother, but continues to run the relay, Megan Greco who donated her organs, and who’s family continues to run in the relay to promote organ donation and Dorothy Kiniris who’s husband continues to run the relay in celebration of the fact that his wife lived longer due to her donated organs. Please discuss your personal wishes regarding organ donation with your family. This will allow loved ones to make an informed decision if you become a potential organ donor.
