The IRC in San Diego has been generously awarded a match by the Sternglanz Foundation of up to $15,000 in funds to provide life-changing support to asylum-seekers, including families recently released from detention who have fled violence and persecution in their home countries. This match will allow us to provide emergency services to San Diego’s most vulnerable families.
Families seeking safety from violence in countries like Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have been detained at the United States border and are released without food, water, shelter or guidance on the asylum process. We are working closely with families recently released from detention centers to help them access safe housing, legal services, employment and other much-needed services.
We have launched this campaign to raise $15k to provide life-changing services to asylum-seeking families fleeing violence and conflict. Every dollar raised will be matched, which will give us the opportunity to raise $30,000 in emergency funds for asylum-seekers.
