Dear Parish Family,
First and foremost, God bless each of you and your families in this unusual time in world history. I pray that each of you remain safe and healthy. Know that even though we are unable to be together in worship, you are always in my thoughts and prayers. Remember that you can, as always, come to your parish family if you are in need.
I write to you day because, despite the fact that our parish is not functioning as it usually does, we are still in need of your financial support to cover the critical needs of our parish community. I am most grateful to those of you who are dropping your envelopes at the parish office and of course, as always, you may continue to do so if you like. If no one is here, feel free to put your envelopes through the mail slot on the front door.
Cardinal Tobin has temporarily waived the usual archdiocesan assessment, i.e., the portion of our weekly collection that is sent to the Archdiocese to support outreach and services to the larger community. Additionally, he has launched an Archdiocese-wide initiative that will enable you to support our parish family without leaving home.
You may have heard about GoFundMe, a leading online giving organization, often used by people when their financial needs exceed their available funds like in the case of extreme medical expenses. The Archdiocese has coordinated with the team at GoFundMe to provide one online platform to support the critical needs of our parish, and, if you so choose, a separate fund to donate to a general fund to support the needs of those outside our parish family.
So I ask you to consider making your weekly contribution to our parish on our GoFundMe page. When you make a contribution you will automatically receive a receipt you can use for tax reporting purposes. All the money raised through donations on our parish page will come directly to our parish. If you already contribute through online giving, you may continue to do so. If you would like to use our online giving, simply go to our webpage, assumptionparishwr.org, and click on Online Giving at the bottom of the page.
Any contribution you make to the separate Parishes in Need fund will go to the Archdiocese to support those communities struggling to continue to pay their employees and church utility bills through this crisis. This is also tax deductible and you will receive an immediate receipt for your records.
For your information, GoFundMe does not charge a platform fee (0%). There is only an industry-standard payment processing fee of 1.9% + $0.30 per donation. For example, if you donate$100, we will receive $97.80.
Thank you for your generosity. Please know that you are in our prayers and we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers as well.
God bless you!
