Six years ago, Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch (ANW) saw a need in the neighborhood to renovate and revitalize our playground at Fifth and Field Avenue. Replacing the outdated and unsafe playground equipment was a priority as well as inspiring the children through play. The playground at Fountain Park has been updated in phases over the last six years. New swings, a large ADA toddler apparatus, a new see-saw and spinners have been purchased with a grant that Aspinwall Borough was able to acquire and from money raised by Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch through a variety of fundraising initiatives. The State Grant Greenways Trails and Recreation Programs money was also used for bathroom and pavilion updates as well as an ADA ramp installed that allows access the upper portion of the park. The final step is to purchase some larger pieces of equipment targeting school age children. The cost is approximately $118K. Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch currently has approximately $49,000 earmarked for these pieces of equipment an now with the generousity of the Straw family we are only $18,000 away from our neighborhood children playing on this equipment THIS SUMMER! With your generous donations we CAN see our goal and complete the updates to our neighborhood park by June, 2018. Your dollars will go directly to the purchase of these much needed pieces of playground equipment and will impact the children of Aspinwall for generations to come.
