The ASCAP Foundation Impacts Over 3.3 Million People Each Year With Music Programs
Founded in 1975, The ASCAP Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development. Your donations are tax-deductible. We proudly operate and support 160 programs nationwide including: Public School Music Education Initiatives, Summer Music Camps, Music Therapy and Community Outreach, Songwriter/Composer/Lyricist Workshops, Music Scholarships, Awards, Commissions and Fellowships.
One of our incredible music education initiatives, called Children Will Listen (featured in the video above), introduces the American musical theater to public school children and helps them connect the show’s themes and issues to their own lives. The show’s creative team also provides insights into musical theater production and teaches children about potential career paths.
Your donation will make music and the arts more accessible to youngsters who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it.
To date, our Children Will Listen program has introduced the many facets of musical theater to thousands of economically disadvantaged children nationwide. Award-winning guest artists include Lin Manuel-Miranda (“Hamilton”), Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“Dear Evan Hansen”), Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked”), Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (“Ragtime”) and Charles Strouse (“Annie”) among others. Many participants describe the Children Will Listen experience as truly life-changing.
