Alliance for Refugee Youth Support and Education (ARYSE) is participating as a Contributing Charity for the Pittsburgh Marathon! Join our community of supporters who are using their platform to #GoTheExtraMile for immigrant and refugee youth in Allegheny County.
If you’ve already registered for the full or half marathon, it’s not too late to join one of our teams and fundraise for ARYSE! Message us and/or set yourself upwith a fundraising page on Crowdrise.
If you’d like to join a relay team, recruit some of your friends and/or message us and we’ll link you up with other runners who have signed up to fundraise for ARYSE.
As a thank you, ARYSE will cover or reimburse the registration fee for each runner that commits to raising at least $250 on their individual Crowdrise page. Runners will also be invited to attend our Pasta Party the weekend before the race to meet and spend time with their fellow teammates.
This year, the funds raised by our marathon runners will support two of our programs:
PRYSE Academy: Pittsburgh Refugee Youth Summer Enrichment Academy is a one-of-a-kind summer program designed to help immigrant and refugee youth become engaged, confident, and celebrated. Through literacy-rich academic curricula, creative expression workshops, team-building activities, field trips, soccer programming, and a public performance at the conclusion of the program, PRYSE is proven to help participants develop literacy skills, build personal confidence, prepare for the school year, and deepen their sense of belonging. Thanks to support from hundreds of individual donors and local foundations, the program is completely free of cost to participants.
After School Club: The After School Club is a safe and fun space for refugee and immigrant youth of all ages living in Pittsburgh to receive homework help, tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment. This program is a collaborative effort between ARYSE and JFCS Immigrant and Refugee Services - 2 organizations in the Pittsburgh region committed to the safety, support, and successful integration of immigrant and refugee communities.
