The Tennessee Art Therapy Association (TATA) is a professional organization of Art Therapists living and working in our state. TATA’s mission is to not only serve professional Art Therapists and Art Therapy students, but to serve all Tennesseans by increasing awareness of the field, connecting individuals and providers with qualified Art Therapists, and advocating for mental health issues.
Art Therapists in TN work with people of all ages with a wide range of needs, including veterans experiencing PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, children with a history of trauma, individuals with terminal diagnoses (such as cancer and Alzheimer’s), and those facing addiction and recovery. Art Therapists are master's-level mental health professionals trained to used the combined powers of creative processes and psychological theory to help improve mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual functioning in an effort to increase overall quality of life and well-being.
Funds raised will help TATA continue to participate in community events dedicated to raising awareness of mental health needs, combating the stigma associated with mental healthcare, and connecting individuals to Board Certified Art Therapists and Art Therapy programs. Over 900,000 Tenneseeans are diagnosed with a mental health issue, yet continually less than 50% receive the help they need. Your donation will help individuals receive access to much needed care and treatment, benefitting the overall health and wellbeing of our state.
