The High School of Arts and Technology is home to the most amazing kids. A New York City Title One public school in the heart of the Lincoln Center neighborhood, our students come from all five boroughs and diverse ethical backgrounds, and they speak about twenty five different languages. Our students come with many challenges and struggles, but despite those challenges, they travel to our school daily no matter if it is raining, snowing, windy, or sunny because they are determined with many dreams to fulfill. They come to us looking to express themselves through the arts. They may not be from the most privileged backgrounds, but they have the biggest desire not to let that deter them from success.
Two years ago, the new administration at the HS of Arts and Tech was determined to provide our students with the most outstanding high school experience, both academically and socially. We've had local trips offered to our students where we would go around the city visiting museums and CUNY colleges. We've started to extend our trips to overnight stays at different cities and colleges, and we are now taking this even further with an international trip to Spain. The country where art seems to be imbued in everything, Spain is home of Goudi, La Celestina, Don Quijote y Sancho Panza, and El Greco y Goya, to name but a few. We want to expose our students to what the world can offer. So many of our students only leave their borough to come to school in Manhattan, and some of our students who live in Manhattan haven't left their borough at all. The Spain trip will be a great opportunity for our students to learn outside of a classroom setting by having a real-world cultural experience.Story
