I'll try to be brief: Pitch In For Baseball has been helping girls and boys play baseball and softball for almost 12 years now and 2017 has been our biggest year ever. We have helped more than 136,000 kids play ball this year. That's more than 9,000 teams across the United States and around the world (44 states this year; 32 countries) and more than double the number of kids who got a glove, bat, ball from PIFB in any previous year. .
Ellen and I feel so rewarded being a part of this great organization, we have done a couple of things to show our appreciation: I have taken on an additional role with PIFB, now being the secretary of the Board of Directors and member of the execuitive committee; we have increased our donation to show our commitment as we try to help even more kids, and finally, this is where you come in, we have set aside an additional $2,500 to match any gifts you make through this page or in our honor for the rest of the year. Your $1 becomes $2. Of $100 becomes $200. You get the idea.
So spend our money, put kids on ball fields, feel good that you are making a difference in a boy or girl's life. Or, really, you're making a diffence in the lives of more than 100,000 kids because we are aiming to help even more kids in 2018.
My profile photo on this page (in the itty-bitty circle) is of David Rhode, our founder and Executive Director, and me before a game at Yankee Stadium, where we were recognized for PIFB's work with Bronx baseball and softball programs. In 2017, PIFB provided equipment to 75 programs in my home borough alone.
Since 2005, PIFB has distributed more than $9 million in equipment to help more than 700,000 kids play ball in every state and the District of Columbia and 90 countries worldwide. We fund 100% of equipment grant requests we receive from eligible applicants. Sometimes our inventory doesn’t match what is requested, so we purchase equipment at deeply discounted rates. Funds you provide help to keep our overhead costs low and enable us to meet the ever increasing needs.
We thank you.
