FemArt Gallery has been aware of the emotional struggles for many women artists due to traumas and emotional disparities. For this reason FemArt has included in our vision plan to offer Art Therapy with our Educational programs. Art is vital to to our social identity but is also essential to aid in helping artists in their personal creative process.
Women are currently negatively impacted by COVID 19 in myriad of ways. The struggles range from economic stressers to emotional trauma triggers of sexual violence, and the increase gender-based violence increasing exponentially. Many women are being forced to ‘lockdown’ at home with their abusers at the same time that services to support survivors are being disrupted or made inaccessible. With these additional traumas and emotional stressers we believe that women artists are especially challenged if their artwork has previously been their outlet for releasing stresses.
FemArt is committed to reduce the anxiety and creative paralysis of women artists so that they may return to their art practices. FemArt is trying to collaborate with local Art Therapists to provide free on-line therapy sessions. This service is a key component of supporting women artists and we need your help to provide this as a free service to women in need.
Please help support women and donate the cost of one coffee a week or as much as you can to be part of cultivating a better society with women's artwork.
