Heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!! We are greatful for a community of supporters like you! Your support has allowed us to surpass our inital goal of $1,000 and has given us the opportunity to raise our fundraising goal!
All logic suggests that Art Therapy Express, a visual and expressive therapeutic arts organization, should not survive an event that shuts down the world. We are very small and do not have a huge base of donors. Since our programs are provided free of charge to the public special education school programs, $5 for individuals in the community, and $10 for nonprofit organizations, we have limited earned revenue. All our partners are shut down and the community of children and adults with disabilities that we serve is at the highest risk and therefore will be the last to return to public spaces. Although we don’t believe we will cease to exist, these circumstances will result in a transformation of our programming and the way we sustain our organization.
That being said, we remain fully committed to the survival of Art Therapy Express, to our participants, and to the families that we serve.
During this pandemic, ATE can’t help but see potential. We are afforded the opportunity to create new venues of low to no cost on-line programs.
- Weekly art therapy sessions for children and adults with multiple, mild to severe, physical, intellectual and emotional disabilities (beginner and advanced) (Thursdays)
- 1:1 sessions for focused support (Wednesdays) Verbal Therapy (Tuesdays)
- Caregiver Self-Care Art Sessions (Mondays) Art Psychotherapy for individuals affected by COVID-19 - PTSD, depression, at-risk population (as needed)
- Virtual Paint Parties (Weekends)
- Preparation for “Abilities Art Show” & Sale on November 12th
We want to assure you of one thing: we are going to make it through this. It won’t be easy, but we will make it through. We will make it through despite our size; despite having fewer supporters than larger organizations; despite limited earned revenue; despite the fact that all of our partners have ceased operations. We will make it through because we have an exceptional board of directors and exceptional families that are committed to our survival. We have survived our challenges in the past and our families truly depend on our programming, now more than ever. We will survive because we are driven by our underlying belief that Art Is A Human Right and Human Rights and a Voice of Self-Expression are worth fighting for!
