I have had the honor to call the workers' center home for the past 2 years! I started working here after the wild 2016 election cycle, and I cant express the amount I have learned, un-learned, and grown as a staff organizer in that time.
I want to take a minute to break down "Movement work." Two words that are both actions. Movement, the hustle, the continuous applying of pressure to secure a favorable outcome. Work, the consistency, and routine dedication to maintain being alive. Together, the push and pull to create social change in order to stay alive on this ever spinning and fucked up planet.
Movement work means to me; building intentional family, self & community empowerment, meaningful policy change, interrupting systemic racism & unjust power structures, being vulnerable with strangers, loving your people fiercely, flexibility, tenderness, relentlessness.
This is why I do "the work" and I hope you can support us in meeting our goal.
