Aquila di Guerra was founded in the Fall 2015 at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, TX under Pedro Funes. Now it is in its 4th year and part of the Oak Ridge HS Orchestra Program. The group has enjoyed performance opportunities at the Texas Renaissance Festival, Houston Bach Society Bach Marathon, Mu Phi Epsilon Dallas Concert Series, and for local events in the area.
In the past they have coached by Sarah Mead, Wendy Gillespie, Josh Lee, Joshua Keller and Stephanie Raby. It is thanks to the Loan Consort offered by the Viola da Gamba Society of America, support from Viols of Houston, and donation of instruments from members in Texas that makes this ensemble possible.
This summer we are invited to perform at the Viola Da Gamba Society's Gamba Gamut at Boston Early Music Festival ! Needless to say, we are very excited! We are also asking for help on this venture. We must pay for our own travel arrangements to and from Boston as well housing.
This will be Aquila di Guerra final performance.
Even the smallest amount is a big help. All donations can be made to Viols of Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonpropfit organization, and are tax-deductible.
A donation of $50 will get you a Les Touches T shirt which was designed by Stephanie Raby.
