My name is Dan Healy and I recently retired. I’ve been given the gift of good health and athleticism. As a runner, I’ve been able to compete in hundreds of races over the last 35 years, including Boston and London Marathons. My son and my sister were not so fortunate, both succumbed to the hideous disease of cancer within the last four years. Aaron was 39 and Patty was 59. I decided to pay forward my gift of good health by raising funds for the American Cancer Society. 100% of your gift will go directly to the American Cancer Society, my challenge is entirely self-funded. I have challenged myself to complete the thru-hike of the AppalachianTrail, a total of 2,189 miles. I will start my hike on April 21, 2018 at Springer Mountain in northwest Georgia and estimate completion date to be mid- September at Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine.
I would love to have your support. There are a couple ways you can do this: A lump sum one-time gift or an initial gift along with a pledge per mile to be given at the end of my challenge. If you select to pledge, please note that in the comment section. Every gift, large or small will be deeply appreciated. Its easy, just go to CROWDRISE.COM and search “Appalachian Trail Cure for Cancer” Click on donate and you are on your way to doing something very special. When we receive your gift, you will receive instructions on how to track my progress in near real time on your cell phone or desk top using the SPOT app. If you have any questions about the Appalachian Trail just search it or email me at healydaniel@att.net.
