Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) is a rare but aggressive cancer formed in the bile duct and typically incurable at diagnosis. It's the 2nd most common liver cancer which makes the 4th most common cause of cancer death. 5 years combined survival rate is 9%. Patients have suffered and families have lost their loved ones in a short period of time after diagnosis. It's a rare cancer with an estimated 8,000 diagnosis in the United States, therefore research and funding are limited. The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (cholangiocarcinoma.org) is a global 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006 by a family who lost their loved one with the hope of finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma. It's the world's largest organization for Cholangiocarcinoma research, clinical trails and patient support. 2 Mayo physicians are in their medical advisory board.
For Apollo's 10th birthday and Athena's 8th birthday, they'd like to donate their birthday fund to benefit this organization, to support research and clinical trials for this disease and help those patients fighting for their lives and their families who are suffering and in despair and fear of losing their loved one.
Every penny counts! Thanks for your generosity, kind considerations and help!
