Please join me in supporting Apex for Youth in 2020's United Half Marathon!
While I am a little more than nervous to participate in my first ever half marathon, I am beyond excited to do so in honor of Apex for Youth!
Apex for Youth was created to deliver possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC. I've been volunteering with Apex for Youth for a little less than 2 years in the elementary test prep program. To say the experience has been nothing short of great is an understatement. Any contributions to go towards my goal of $1k for Apex would be greatly appreciated!
In this most recent semester, I've worked with fifth graders at PS 124 to develop their social and community building skills, teaching students how to listen and be assertive, understand and manage their feelings, and the importance of diversity. Being just one semester in, I have seen so much growth in our students and their openness/understanding of the world around them. The work that my program leaders and co-volunteers have put into the curriculum has been so thoughtful and I'm excited to see next year's growth.

Founded in 1992, Apex for Youth delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth in NYC.
Apex for Youth currently serves students from 1st to 12th grade in New York City. Our suite of programs begins in elementary school, providing students with structured academic and social activities to improve their communication skills and provide opportunities to interact with adults. In the middle school and high school years, Apex encourages more personalized one-to-one mentoring to build deeper relationships with youth and address their specific needs. High school students also can access more rigorous academic assistance from Apex to prepare them for college.
Through youth developing strong relationships with positive role models who volunteer their service, Apex’s goal is for its youth to become Apex volunteers themselves in the future: confident, college-ready individuals who want to give back to the community.
